GoodNotes Review

I have been journaling for a few years. However, after having a few notebooks, I am thinking to digitalise my journaling process, so I would not need to take up more space at home. Right now, I am trying out GoodNote on my iPad. I have been using it for more than a month, and I am happy with the process. Here's a review about GoodNotes.

Here's the overview of the app.

That’s my handwriting.

That’s my handwriting.

I downloaded the Dec 2020 and 2021 journal from various Youtube Channel. I used the December calendar when I was testing out the app. I used it to record the highlights of December 2020. Honestly, GoodNotes is straightforward. You can download your textbook into GoodNotes and take notes on it. All you just need are an iPad and Apple Pencil. You don't have to get extra stationeries such as highlighter, glue, print-outs, etc. to create your own set of notes.

The best part of this app is converting everything into a PDF. Then, you can save it on the cloud. Open the file when you need it again. You can even convert each page into a JPEG and share with others. Here are some pages of my journal.

Honestly, I like this way of journalling because I could easily include photos into the pages, without going through the hassle of printing, cutting, pasting them in the notebook. Moreover, I drag doing all these, that I never kick start my journaling process for my travels. Now, I can simply do everything on my iPad, and I am loving it.

However, there is a downside to this, you have to invest more than $1000 to get the gadgets alone. The app is around SGD 10. If you want to digitalise your journal, it does come with a hefty cost. I do not recommend that you buy an iPad and Apple Pencil just for this purpose. You can continue to stick to pen and paper.

I would recommend this app to those who take notes and would need it with them regularly. I would not recommend this to non-iPad users unless you are ready to go digital.

x, Esther
